At BU we are committed to providing an excellent student experience, with degrees underpinned by high-quality research, which will ultimately benefit the health and wellbeing of people locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Studying at Postgraduate level can enhance your employability as it will allow you to specialise in a specific area of health/social care, further refining and developing your skills and practice.
This course prepares you for a diverse range of roles in Public Health with a focus on partnership working and improving health in teams, through a variety of mechanisms such as health education, political influencing and behaviour change.
It draws on the theories of the management of change, understanding disease patterns/epidemiology, research and practice-based education. This equips you to take your knowledge and apply it to a public health setting in order to implement courses or projects to improve healthy living and outcomes, and to evaluate the impact on the community. The learning environment is international and multi-professional with a mixture of lectures, student led seminars and self-directed study.
Study support is provided in the form of lecturer and student led classes, online support and individual tutorial support. Our Public Health Masters course is internationally focused and we have had students from many countries. Our course leader Dr Ann Hemingway and other course staff are involved in international research activity and Dr Hemingway is a visiting lecturer at Uppsala University in Sweden.
